Transform Your Basic Hot Cocoa This Winter

Wether you're making the perfect cup of hot cocoa from scratch or putting together a quick cup of instant hot cocoa, give it a little twist. Basic items that you already have in your pantry can transform your standard hot cocoa into an even more delicious drink. Use these tips from Great Harvest in Spokane to give your hot cocoa a twist this winter!

Make Peppermint Hot Chocolate

There are a couple ways you can add a sweet peppermint twist to your hot chocolate. A great way to do this is by adding a couple drops of peppermint extract to your hot chocolate as you make it. Another easy and festive way is by adding a candy cane to your mug. You can crush a candy cane and add bits of it to your drink or use a whole candy cane to mix your hot cocoa.

Double Chocolate Hot Cocoa

If you're looking for hot chocolate with an strong chocolate taste, double chocolate hot cocoa is right for you. Try adding a couple spoonfuls of Nutella to you hot cocoa for an extra chocolatey drink. You can also throw some chocolate chips into your warm drink and stir them in as they melt. You can choose to use regular chocolate chips or opt for dark, white or even peanut butter chips depending on your preference.

Peanut Butter Enhanced Hot Chocolate

For hot chocolate with an added touch of peanut butter, make your hot chocolate on the stove. Once you have added all the ingredients required, bring it to a simmer. Add a couple spoonfuls of peanut butter while stirring in order to remove any clumps. Once everything is warm and smooth, it's ready to be served.
