How to Make Whole Grain Bread

Get the Ingredients
- ⅓ cup of honey
- ⅓ cup of vegetable oil
- 1 tablespoon of salt
- 2 tablespoons of dry active yeast
- 2 cups of molasses
- 2 ¾ cups of hot water
- 4 teaspoons of lemon juice
- 7 cups of whole grain flour

Prepare

You’ll also need some supplies to make this whole grain bread happen: a mixing bowl, bread pans, a rack and a beater. You can also prepare by preheating the oven at 350°F.

Mix and Match

Take the water, honey, molasses, lemon juice, vegetable oil and the salt, and mix them together in a bowl.

Add 2 cups of whole grain flour and keep mixing. Then, pour the dry active yeast in there and keep going. Once it’s all warm, add 4 cups of the flour. Keep mixing until there’s an homogeneous batter.

After that, you’ll have to incorporate the rest of the flour in. Mix well until you see that the dough stops sticking to the walls in the bowl.

Let it Rest

Once you’re done with the dough, cover the container and let it be for about half an hour. You’ll see the mixture start to rise during this time. When the time is up, mix the dough again.

Shape Up

Put some flour over a surface so the dough won’t stick to it. Then, take the batter and massage it into shape. Cut it in half and shape each piece into an oblong form. Then, put each half in an oiled pan and let it rest again so it rises a bit more (double its size).

Bake and Cool

Now that your dough is bigger and in the pans, it’s time to stick it in the oven. Let it bake for about 30 minutes. Once the time is up, take the loaves out of the oven, place them on the rack and let them cool off before cutting them off and enjoying a taste!
